PPA Settlement Agreement Between the MSA and the Balancing Pool

The Market Surveillance Administrator (MSA) filed an application on August 15, 2018, requesting that the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) approve a settlement agreement with respect to the MSA’s investigation pertaining to the conduct of the Balancing Pool (BP) after the termination of Power Purchasing Agreements (PPAs).

Government of Alberta’s Response to Terminated PPAs

On July 25, 2016, the Attorney General (AG) of Alberta on behalf of the Government of Alberta submitted an application to the Court of Queen’s bench to effectively reverse ENMAX’s termination of their Battle River Power Purchasing Arrangement.¹   The balancing pool is also named in the application because it accepted ENMAX’s termination of the PPA. The other PPA holders are named as respondents because they have termination requests pending.
