AESO Line Loss Rule – Module C

The on-going AESO line loss hearing is slowly moving towards a resolution with the Commission recently deciding on preliminary compensation issues in the third scheduled module of the line loss hearing. While the recent decision does not yet establish compensation levels for the rule, which the AUC declared unlawful, it does decide some details on how the compensation will be distributed and to whom.

On August 11, 2016 the AUC informed participants in EPCOR Energy’s 2016-2017 regulated rate tariff application proceeding that it had inadvertently relied on the assistance of a visiting scholar who had previously provided evidence on behalf of EPCOR in the same proceeding.

Government of Alberta’s Response to Terminated PPAs

On July 25, 2016, the Attorney General (AG) of Alberta on behalf of the Government of Alberta submitted an application to the Court of Queen’s bench to effectively reverse ENMAX’s termination of their Battle River Power Purchasing Arrangement.¹   The balancing pool is also named in the application because it accepted ENMAX’s termination of the PPA. The other PPA holders are named as respondents because they have termination requests pending.
