In Proceeding 26509, AltaLink Management Ltd. (AltaLink) is applying to the Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) of the 2022-2023 General Tariff Agreement (GTA) for AltaLink, L.P. (ALP), PiikaniLink, L.P. (PLP), and KainaiLink, L.P. (KLP), as well as a Deferral Accounts Reconciliation Application for ALP. The Alberta Utilities Commission issued rulings on several motions put forward by the Consumers’ Coalition of Alberta (CCA), the Utilities Consumer Advocate (UCA), and the Industrial Power Consumers Association of Alberta (IPCAA).

TransAlta’s 2019-2021 General Tariff Decision

On June 23, 2021, the Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) made a decision regarding the 2019-2021 General Tariff Application (GTA) application of TransAlta Corporation (TransAlta) in Proceeding 26436. Within this decision, the Commission was satisfied most of the application and only directed TransAlta to make a significant adjustment regarding their escalation rate for non-union salary, contractor, and general inflation for 2021.

Seeking a Review of the Commission’s DCG Credit Decision

On August 17, 2021, Kalina Distributed Power Ltd., Lionstooth Energy Inc., Signalta Resources Ltd., & Campus Energy Partners LP. (KLSC), and Bluearth Renewables Inc., & Elemental Energy Renewables Inc. (BE) made their reply submissions to the Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) regarding Proceeding 26660. In this proceeding, KLSC and BE are seeking a review and variance of the Commission’s decision to discontinue the rate Demand Transmission Service (DTS) portion of Distribution-Connected Generation (DCG) credits [1].

Melcor’s Preliminary Motion for Interim Relief Accepted

The Alberta Utilities Commission made a ruling on Proceeding 26649 on August 3rd, 2021. In this proceeding, Melcor Entities seeks interim relief of payments to FortisAlberta Inc. because Melcor Entities assumed the cost that Fortis was not able to cover the construction of facilities that adhered to Fortis’s revised design standard.
