The AESO’s 2023 Business Plan and Budget Proposal

The 2023 Business Plan and Budget Proposal of the Alberta Electric System Operator (“AESO”) outlines the organization’s priorities and expenditures for the upcoming year. In developing this proposal, the AESO explained that stakeholders met one-on-one with a subset of AESO board and executive members to share their perspectives on what they believed the AESO should be focusing on in the near term. The AESO used these insights to inform its 2023 priorities.[1]

TransAlta’s 2019-2021 General Tariff Application

On March 31, 2021, TransAlta Corporation (TransAlta) submitted its 2019-2021 General Tariff Application (GTA) to the Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) for Proceeding 26436. Within this application, TransAlta requests the Commission’s approval of Transmission Facility Owner (TFO) rates for 2019 through 2021, as well as TransAlta’s Direct Assign Capital Deferral Account (DACDA) compliance filing for 2016 through 2018.

Bulletin 2020-20

The Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) released Bulletin 2020-20 on May 14, 2020 announcing the creation of a new proceeding (ID 25560) to establish the framework, methodologies and informational requirements that should be used to review proposals for alternate recovery methods of net salvage cost and depreciation expenses.

AltaLink Requests Approval for New Net Salvage Method in 2019 – 2021 GTA

On August 23, 2018, AltaLink Management Ltd. (AltaLink) submitted its 2019 – 2021 General Tariff Application (GTA) to the Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission), requesting approval for its revenue requirement for the 2019 – 2021 test period as well as a change to the salvage cost recovery method it currently employs.

On January 13, 2016 ATCO Electric (AE) responded to a fourth round of IRs in their 2016-2017 General Tariff Application proceeding.  And on January 20, 2016 interveners submitted a third round of evidence, with IRs and intervener responses to IRs following on February 1st and 11th respectively.
