BURNCO Complaint Against FORTISALBERTA Terms & Conditions

On July 27, 2017 BURNCO Rock Products Ltd submitted a complaint against FortisAlberta because of a “Customer Exit Charge” levied against the company when it cancelled service at two of its sites. BURNCO argues that the charge means Fortis is recovering costs that were already recovered through the particular arrangements of the service contracts.

Decision on EQUS Complaint Over Fortis Option M

The AUC has issued decision 22293-D01-2017 on EQUS REA’s application to have FortisAlberta’s Terms & Conditions altered such that EQUS Distributed Generation (DGen) customers on the EQUS system are eligible for Fortis’s option M rate.

AUC R&V on FORTIS Purchase of REA Assets

The AUC has issued decision 21768-D01-2017 on the Review & Variance of two decisions involving the sale of REA assets to FortisAlberta.  The R&V was initiated by the Commission after it found that the UCA had inadvertently been denied the opportunity to comment on whether the Kingman REA and VMN REA acquisition costs were prudently incurred.

Enel Energy Complaint Against the AESO  

 

Enel Energy and the AESO have put forward argument and reply argument in proceeding 22367 on Enel’s complaint against the AESO. The complaint is related to the customer contribution for connecting Castle Rock Ridge (CRR) wind farm near Pincher Creek to the Alberta electric system.

AltaLink 2017-2018 NSA Decision

In Decision 21341-D01-2017, the Alberta Utilities Commission approved the negotiated settlement agreement for AltaLink’s 2017-2018 GTA.  One of the more interesting aspects of the NSA decision is that the Commission applied a new rationale for determining the discount rate to be used when determining net present value.

FORTISALBERTA REQUEST FOR CONFIRMATION OF SERVICE AREAS

In Proceeding 22164, FortisAlberta is requesting that the AUC confirm the boundaries of its exclusive municipal franchise areas and order the transfer (from REAs) of any customers that end up in the utility’s exclusive franchise area as a result of the realignment of service areas.

FortisAlberta’s Purchase Price for REA and Municipal Electrical Assets

In December of 2016, FortisAlberta and the municipality of Crowsnest Pass applied to the AUC for approval of the sale of the municipality’s distribution assets to Fortis Alberta for a purchase price of $3.7 million.
