The responses to the Alberta Utilities Commission questions regarding the development of distributed generation (DG) in the province were numerous and varied. They spanned a range of topics from technical solutions to high-level regulatory changes.  Given the volume of information available, it is helpful to focus on two main issue which present the most significant challenges and were raised by most of the participants in their responses.

EQUS Complaint Regarding FORTIS Option M

EQUS Rural Electrification Association (REA) has applied to the AUC to have FortisAlberta’s Terms & Conditions altered such that EQUS Distributed Generation (DG) customers on the EQUS system are eligible for FortisAlberta’s option M rate.

ENEL Wind Connection Complaint Against the AESO

Enel Wind Inc. has filed a complaint with the AUC against the AESO related to the customer contribution charge for connecting Castle Rock Ridge (CRR) wind farm near Pincher Creek to the Alberta electric system.

AESO 2015 Deferral Account Application         

The AUC has approved the AESO’s 2015 deferral account application on March 14, 2017. The AESO had requested AUC approval for reconciliation of shortfall and surpluses from 2010-2015. The net amount for reconciliation is a surplus of $6.7 million*.
