On December 4, 2018 the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) initiated the 2021 generic cost of capital and is considering whether it should return to a formula-based approach for calculating return on equity (ROE) starting the year of 2021.
On November 29, 2019, ATCO Electric Ltd. (ATCO) submitted a review and variance (R&V)[1] application on the second decision for ATCO’s 2018 – 2019 GTA (Decision 22742-D02-2019) for findings from the Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) related to the Fort McMurray wildfire. On January 9, 2020 the AUC released its decision on ATCO Electric Ltd.’s (AET) review and variance (R&V) application for its 2018-2019 GTA.[1]

AltaLink Management Ltd. (AltaLink) has applied to the Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) requesting for the initiation of a generic proceeding to review distribution system planning criteria. In Proceeding 25188, the Commission will review the submission by AltaLink as well as any registered participants and decide on whether it is necessary to hold such an inquiry[1].
