The session did not provide much in terms of new information, but the AESO informed stakeholders that they intend to propose changes to the deferral account allocation methodology in an upcoming application. Moreover, the AESO sought to gauge stakeholder support for the proposed changes.

Alberta Court of Appeal Decision 2016 ABCA 333 deals with a request from the Utilities Consumer Advocate (UCA) to appeal AUC Decision 20271-D01-2015, which approved a FortisAlberta land sale and its subsequent removal from rate base, and 20990-D01-2016, an R&V decision upholding the first decision.

The on-going AESO line loss hearing is slowly moving towards a resolution with the Commission recently deciding on preliminary compensation issues in the third scheduled module of the line loss hearing. While the recent decision does not yet establish compensation levels for the rule, which the AUC declared unlawful, it does decide some details on how the compensation will be distributed and to whom.
