Participant’s Arguments Regarding FortisAlberta’s Streetlight Investment Refund

Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) proceeding 27067 is at the stage where participants, the City of Airdrie, the Building Industry and Land Development Association of Alberta (BILD) and FortisAlberta Inc are presenting their arguments regarding who should receive FortisAlberta’s streetlight investment. FortisAlberta’s streetlight investment refunds a portion of streetlight costs in occupied lots.

Bill 22, the Electricity Statutes Amendment Act, Passes First Reading

The Alberta Legislature introduced Bill 22, the Electricity Statutes (Modernizing Alberta’s Electricity Grid) Amendment Act on April 27, 2022. The acceptance of this bill would make several amendments to the Alberta Utility Commission Act (“AUC Act”), the Electric Utilities Act (“EU Act”), and the Hydro and Electric Energy Act (“HEE Act”) to enable energy storage, encourage more self-supply with export, expand the responsibilities of the Minister of Energy (“the Minister”) and begin winding down the Balancing Pool by redistributing its responsibilities.[1]

EPCOR 2021-2022 Regulated Rate Tariff Application

On August 26, 2021, EPCOR Energy Alberta (EEA) submitted its 2021-2022 Regulated Rate Tariff (RRT) Application (the Application) to the Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) in Proceeding 26694. In this application, EEA applies for the non-energy charges applicable to eligible customers, and for several deferral accounts.
