AESO Receives Approval for Deferral Account Reconciliation

On December 11, 2019, the Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) approved the Alberta Electric System Operator’s (AESO) request to reconcile its net deferral account shortfalls with market participants in the years of 2017 and 2018.[1]

Positions on Rate Treatment Issues Regarding the Acquisition of Distribution Utilities by PBR Utilities

The Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) initiated Proceeding 24405 to determine what rate treatment should be given to distribution utilities that acquire electric or gas distribution systems from Rural Electrification Associations (REAs), municipalities or gas co-ops under the Performance Based Regulation (PBR) 2013-2017 framework and the PBR 2018-2022 framework.[1]

DOE Capacity Market Engagement Session (Stakeholder Involvement)

On November 17, 2017 the DOE hosted a second stakeholder consultation session on overarching policy decisions that will guide the capacity market design. The first, on resource adequacy, took place on October 27, 2017 and the final session on cost allocation will take place sometime in mid-December.
