The Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) has released Bulletin 2025-01, outlining its initiative to reduce regulatory burden and enhance procedural efficiency by making changes to cost-of-service rate proceedings for transmission utilities.
In Proceedings 27651, 27653, 27684, and 27685, Apex Utilities Inc. (Apex), ATCO Gas (ATCO), ENMAX Power Corporation (ENMAX), and EPCOR Distribution & Transmission Inc. (EPCOR) submit their revenue requirement and distribution rates compliance filings to the Alberta Utilities Commission (the Commission) for approval going into the third term of performance-based regulation (PBR3). The approval of these compliance filings concludes each applicant’s PBR rebasing.[1]
In proceeding 26617 the Alberta Utilities Commission (the “Commission”) issues its decision regarding the cost-of-service negotiated settlements of ENMAX Power Corporation (“ENMAX”) and EPCOR Distribution & Transmission Inc. (“EPCOR”) in preparation for the next term of performance-based regulation (“PBR”).
In proceeding 26615 the Alberta Utilities Commission (the “Commission”) issues its decision regarding the cost-of service reviews proposed by ATCO Electric Ltd. (“ATCO”) and FortisAlberta Inc. (“Fortis”) in preparation for the third term of performance-based regulation (“PBR”).
In Proceeding 27018, the Alberta Utilities Commission (the “Commission”) issues its decision regarding the Phase II Distribution Tariff Application of EPCOR Distribution & Transmission Inc. (“EPCOR”).
In Proceeding 26617, EPCOR Distribution & Transmission Inc. (”EPCOR”) submits its negotiated settlement agreement (“NSA”) regarding its distribution cost-of-service application (the “Application”) to the Alberta Utilities Commission (the “Commission”) for review and approval.
In Proceeding 26617, ENMAX Power Corporation (“ENMAX”) submits its negotiated settlement agreement (“NSA”) with the Utilities Consumer Advocate (“UCA”) pertaining to its 2023 Distribution Cost of Service Review Application (the “Application”) to the Alberta Utilities Commission (the “Commission” or “AUC”).
As part of Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) proceeding 26615, (ATCO Electric Ltd (ATCO) and FortisAlberta Ltd’s (Fortis) 2023 Cost-of-Service application), the Consumers’ Coalition of Alberta (CCA) proposed to engage two experts in examining ATCO and Fortis’s forestry protection program costs. ATCO requested that the AUC reconsider the participation of these experts after a disclosure brought into question the experts’ impartiality.
In Alberta Utility Commission (AUC) proceeding 26616, ATCO Gas Ltd. (ATCO) and APEX Utilities Inc. (APEX) submit their respective 2023 cost-of-service (COS) applications for revenue requirement. ATCO additionally requests approval for its proposed hydrogen related projects, and APEX submits its review of inter-affiliate charges.
In Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) Proceeding 27018, EPCOR Distribution & Transmission Inc. (EPCOR) submits its Phase II Distribution Tariff Application for approval from the AUC.
